Māori Forestry 2040 Transitions

Ngā Pou a Tāne is due to wrap up Stage 2 Implementation of the National Māori Forestry Strategy 2040 in a couple of weeks. A review of the work completed includes:

  • renewal of the mandate from Māori forestry interests for Ngā Pou a Tāne to develop and implement a national strategy for Māori forestry, and to provide advocacy and representation for the matters that have the potential to impact these aspirations

  • development and launch of He Rautaki Ngahere Māori 2040 (the strategy) in May 2025

  • development of seven associated Māori Forestry Action Plans

  • and proposed architecture for systems that can activate real-world transitions and projects.

The Board will provide details of the next steps through layered announcements in the weeks ahead.
